{Tranquility}

 The cheerful chickies of Edgewood Farm

Summer flowers

This is where I work, at a beautiful converted dairy barn which is now a home and lifestyle boutique. Each workday begins with the crow of the rooster, hens softly clucking as they root around in the garden, the dogs coming to greet me with their silly dog grins. The flower gardens and soft breezes fill me with tranquility. Time to switch on the lights and turn on the easy summer music, water the flowers in the shop and wait for another beautiful day to unfold. I love my work, the people I work for are the kindest, most lovely couple, I still pinch myself thinking "this isn't work, this is wonderful!". Happy Weekend!

{Kitchen Love}

They come in so many shapes and sizes......speaking to our sense of home and comfort. Enchanting, petite kitchens for one or two are my favorite. Some how they seem more human in scale than those echoing kitchens found in large houses - welcoming, like your favorite pair of jeans. Smaller kitchens challenge you to make the best use of space, which often brings out so much character, and you love it all the more. It encourages you curate your objects, distilling your things down to only the functional, loved and beautiful. Simply lovely!

{Let's Make Believe}

This is my idea of a perfect London apartment. I love each of the rooms for their warmth and great layers, classic finishes and character. They feel lived in, something I believe is so essential in good design, because it makes the people who live there feel at home. Happy Monday!

{Snug Saturday}

Looking forward to late mornings, homemade breakfasts and waking up to birds chirping in the sunshine. I hope this weekend restores your soul and calms your mind.

{Flowers for Friday}

A pretty remnant of flowers from a larger bouquet, these pink blooms are winking in the sunlight on my kitchen window sill.

{You've Always Been My Favorite}

Kitchens, maybe my favorite room in the house. This one in particular has all of the magical elements- marble, white mill work, touches of brass, yummy wood island and a groovy light fixture. Sweet perfection.

{She's Looking Sweet}

I love the difference a pretty fabric makes! These  chairs were looking dingy and tired when I brought them home, now they feel so much fresher. The wood frame looks darker in the after shot, but actually I've reupholstered the seat and added new foam. It's funny, but the hardest part was getting the fabric tight enough, since I used a really plush foam. I actually had to stand on the seat while my hubby stapled, of course comedy and calamity ensued. Have a lovely Sunday!

{Dance Me Outside}

I had a charming young fellow stop in my front garden for breakfast this morning(I'm going to call him Mr. Darcy), such a treat! I know deer are everywhere, especially in this area, but I just adore them and never get tired of watching these fetching creatures.

I'm really starting to see flowers popping up in the garden now, although we're far from the main event. Little ants are working industriously on the buds of the peonies and strawberries are flowering, it's really summer! (and how fleeting it is)

{The Houseguest}

Meet Cleo, we'll be baby sitting him for a few weeks. Our two resident cats are considerably underwhelmed by the situation!

{A Bird on the Wing}

I was sitting at my kitchen table with a mug of tea, when outside my window a woodpecker with a jaunty red head started to nibble on the bugs in my tree. As he flew off in search of new bugs for his breakfast, he left behind a silky feather. You see, today is my birthday, and it seemed that he left it just for me. Every day has it's inspirations.

{Country Lanes}

We went for a wonderful lazy Sunday drive today, the kind you take when you don't need to rush anywhere. Just being able to let go of the business of life for a few hours is such a luxury, one that feeds my soul. I dream of someday having a home in the country, surrounded by delicious quiet and rolling green hills. Heaven.

{I Heart Ikat}

 While I wouldn't do ikat on a really large scale, like wallpaper, I love it for clothing and accessories.  It's the kind of print that adds earthiness, has nice movement to it, and seems to be a magical blend of geometric and floral. Pretty without being precious, which makes me think it's rather splendid!

{Lovely Lilacs of June}

         The Lilacs are in bloom, filling the shop with their intoxicating fragrance!
