{Small is Beautiful}

 I'm finding joy in the small things in life that bring lightness to my heart. Have you heard of the tiny house movement? While many of the tiny homes are too small for me, I've realized that an 800 square foot home, well designed, really would be enough.

The idea of living a more curated life by letting go of so many things that I really don't need, and if I'm honest, would never miss. I believe it is possible to live beautifully and comfortably in a smaller space, especially if this is whats outside. This is my dream, someday it's going to come true - that will be a beautiful day.

{Petite Perfection}

This little kitchen was so sweet I just had to share it immediately! What a mix of delicious elements - hammered sink and pendant lights, wood counter tops, creamy cabinetry, open shelves. I just love the french doors, this little kitchen is like a jewel box. Love.

There is so much beauty to be found in well considered simplicity.

{A Curated Life}

Stone sinks and brass fittings only get more beautiful with time.

Linen tea towels. They have just arrived, and I am loving them!

Copper pots, so lovely and soulful.

Laguiole knives, made in France, are a classic addition to my kitchen must haves.

I have been contemplating the beauty to be found in materials that can last a lifetime and beyond. Classics which stand the test of time. Simple shapes with intrinsic elegance, made with quality materials and craftsmanship.

People used to embroider their linens, such a charming thing I think. Now that my linen tea towels have arrived, I am thinking about getting mine monogrammed! A luxury I can afford, which feels really special and just for me.

Sturdy wood tables with that glow of patina that only comes with age, sweeps of marble counter tops, soft Egyptian cotton sheets, down fill blankets. For me, it is these details that amount to true luxury. It's not having a big house or expensive cars, but quality in the things you hold in your hands and that touch your skin. It takes more time to collect good quality pieces, but they will last you. Living a more curated life, making thoughtful decisions about each thing you bring into your home.

{Rustic}

Adding some rough or rustic to a space brings it to life! It took me a few years to see the beauty in the simple, well formed things that at one time, I would have thought "plain". It can't all be icing, there needs to be cake in there too. I find myself getting to the point where the gently used and lived in, are more captivating to me than the obviously beautiful. That being said, there's always room for a dollop of icing!

{It's Fall: Time to Get Cozy}

 Fall is such a gorgeous season, I love the blazing colours and the crisp air. I begin to crave hearty soups and nestle myself in at home under down blankets. Since I adore both coats and scarves, this is the time to wear them! Fall is a short season here, with the weather man already calling for chances of snow this week. So I enjoy my coats and the colour of the leaves while I can, soaking in the warm rays of the sun in the cool fall air.

{Barely There}

So soft and beautiful, nude pinks always draw me in, adding a gentle glow. Both feminine and elegant, as timeless as a french manicure.

{Let's Make Believe}

A lovely little French chateau, left to crumble a bit in the right places, my idea of pure bliss. I dream of someday seeing it in person, all of those beautiful old buildings. I never tire of them, with all of those luscious details and gently faded elegance, traditional architecture fills me with wonder and captures my imagination.

Each summer I read "A Year in Provence", by Peter Mayle. As I read the familiar pages, I begin to feel the hot sun on my face, taste the sharp flavour of the cheese, smell the fresh crusty bread. If you are looking for a lovely read full of sun, humor and food, this is the one! Happy Sunday.

{Distinctly Parisian}

 The mix of modern design elements with traditional architecture is just magic for me. They don't take their gorgeous interiors too seriously, resisting the temptation to go over the top. There is such a sense of fun, leading me to believe that maybe people really live in their rooms.(Something to strive for in today's design conscious world.) Which is the most important thing isn't it? Really living in your home.

{Flowers For Friday}

Snap dragons are some of my favorite flowers! These golden beauties are currently blooming in the English Garden at Edgewood Farm.

{Chocoholic: I Confess}

There is something that I have come to realize, and therefor must admit, to myself. I love rooms with dark details, walls or cabinetry. This is something I've been pushing to the back of my consciousness, since I am usually in favour of light and airy rooms. I know that I love bright spaces to live in, and I've never had a dark room in my home. That being said, my inspiration file has a quickly growing number of moody rooms ranging from bedrooms to kitchens. I am now going to explore this idea, will paint my Mr.'s office a delicious dark grey, and see how it feels to live with. After all, the proof is in the pudding!

{Warmth}

 As fall begins to cool the days and nights, leaves are tinged ever so slightly with gold and hot cups of tea begin to seduce me - I find myself craving the cocoon of warm spaces. A cozy little room with a fireplace, tucked up in a wool blanket and the soft glow of lamplight dancing on the walls.

{At First Blush}

So many shades to choose from, pink is a colour that can caress or energize. Subtle shades of blush are more in my realm, they play so nicely with neutrals giving them bit of softness. How ever you may feel about it, pink is a dynamic colour. I love pink because it makes my eyes alight on it, giving me a glimpse of a little girl twirling in her favorite pink dress.

{Flowers For Friday}

The colours are a bit washed out from the sun pouring through the windows, but the flowers at the farm are gorgeous. Have a lovely weekend!

{Good Enough To Eat}

 Maybe one of my favorite kitchens, I envision it being tucked away somewhere in Europe.

It's that magical shade of green that just sings, it is fresh and charming - one of my favorite colours. I  like green so much because it is a natural colour, which I think makes it more like a neutral. Yet it is decidedly more playful than taupe, it fairly winks at you. This particular shade of Laduree green is just delectable, making me dream of macaroons and transporting me to the streets of Paris.

{Coasting}

I know it's only Wednesday, but in my mind I'm just coasting until the weekend. The peonies are blooming now, they are such generous flowers. They are the darlings of my garden, I do dote on them so! Here's to looking forward to a sun soaked weekend for us all. Hold on to your hats lovelies, we're almost there.
